THE PROFILE OF MRS OMOABIE UDEME AKPAN,DIRECTOR TRADE UNION SERVICES AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS,FEDERAL MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT

Mrs Omoabie Udeme Akpan holds a B.A (Hons) 1986 in Modern European Languages (RUSSIAN) from University of Ibadan.She acquired an LLB Degree from University of Lagos in 1990 and obtained her BL (Barrister at law) in 1991. She was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1993.She also holds a Masters Degree – M.Sc. in International Human Resource Management and Employment Relations from Queen Mary, University of London where she obtained a Distinction in 2013.

Mrs Akpan is also an accredited mediator with certification from the London School of Mediation.

She was appointed a Senior Labour Officer in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in 1993.She rose through the ranks through diligence and sheer hard work and was appointed the Zonal Director South – South Zone of Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in 2014 covering Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers States. She was appointed as the Director Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations Department in January, 2017.

Mrs Omoabie Udeme Akpan is an astute Labour Administrator with over 25 years of experience in Industrial Relations matters. She has been instrumental to the resolution of major Industrial relations disputes for several years in Oil and Gas Sector of the South – South Zone and presently in the country at large.Mrs Akpan is happily married with grown up children.
